The Coaching Skill Nobody Certifies For

The first clients I lost as a coach left me confused. My programming was good. The facility worked. The schedule was reasonable. What I could not see at the time was that none of that was why they came or why they left. I had not learned to actually be present with someone whose experience of the world was different from mine, and that absence showed up in every session whether I knew it or not.

I have spent years since then working with coaches who are running the same pattern I was. Technically prepared, genuinely motivated, losing people they cannot explain. The missing piece is almost always the same.

Empathy is not sympathy. This distinction shows up in real sessions in ways that matter.
