5 Focus Points for Social Media

“Social media is not just an activity; it is an investment of valuable time and resources.” — Sean Gardner

Did you know a person is on social media for an average of 2.5 hours per day? I was shocked to learn that statistic.

We all know that social media is a massive aspect of our marketing strategy as entrepreneurs. And obviously, many of us are spending far too much time on it. Thankfully, there is a better way.

Save your time, effort, and energy by focusing on these 5 aspects of social media. These focus points will help you shut out the noise, increase your productivity, and help your target audience find you.

1. Insights = Track Everything
Before you can grow, you have to know what your current goals are for your social media. You can’t “manage” your time, effort, and energy without a set of priorities. You can’t have set priorities without an end game or finish line. So, what are your current goals for your posts? Is more website views or higher engagement in your private group? Decide so you can begin tracking your insights to see what is working and what is not. If something isn’t helping you get closer to your goal, ditch it.

2. Audience = Attention, Not Sales
Sure, likes are great for the ego, but they aren’t necessarily great for the wallet. Having thousands of followers and hundreds of likes on your post means you have the attention of an audience. However, a lot of attention and a large audience does not imply a lot of clients. There is a massive difference between audience and customer, so don’t let the likes go to your head. In other words, maybe skip the newest viral Instagram Reel dance if your goal is to increase leads of your target client, not attention from the uninterested masses.

3. Leads = Nurturing & Reaching Out

Leads are consuming your free content, but they haven’t entirely upgraded into your client listing yet. They may be lurking or watching from a distance or interacting sporadically. You should be paying attention to these leads and cultivating a social relationship with them. Spend time interacting with your leads in a meaningful way through comments and direct messages.

4. Clients = Showcase Their Journey
These are the people who already know, like, and trust you enough to have purchased an offering. You want to ensure they are not sprinting through your business but become ultra-marathon runners with you. Ensure you love on them hard through social media by interacting with their accounts and showcasing their journeys & successes on your own account.

5. Be Social = But On A Schedule
Studies show that when you log into social media multiple times during the day, your self-esteem decreases drastically, as does your productivity. Limit yourself by focusing your intention when you log into the platforms. Choose a time to post and choose a time of day to interact with your leads and clients. Stick to that schedule and skip the mindless scrolling.
